Celebrating the Pioneers of Tomorrow’s Research!

The Precision Medicine Lab (PML) at Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) recently celebrated the achievements of its fifth batch of summer interns, marking another successful year of cultivating the next generation of biomedical pioneers. This six-week internship, designed for high school students, saw seven standout participants from across Pakistan immerse themselves in cutting-edge fields like biomaterials, artificial intelligence, cancer models, and 3D bioprinting.

Selected from a pool of thousands, these students were exposed to real-world research challenges under the mentorship of experienced scientists like Dr. Faisal Khan, Director of PML. With a strong emphasis on experiential learning, the program enabled interns to dive deep into scientific methodologies while confronting the complexities of rigorous biomedical research. The challenges and triumphs they faced along the way prepared them to step confidently into the world of research.

The seven students who graduated this year were:

  • Ayaan Amjad (Pak-Turk Maarif, Peshawar)
  • Talha Khan (Pak-Turk Maarif, Peshawar)
  • Romeesa Malik (Peshawar Model Degree College for Women)
  • Zeena Bakhtiar (Peshawar Model Degree College for Women)
  • Maahir Raza Qureshi (Cadet College Kohat)
  • Majid Shakoor (Pak-Turk Maarif, Lahore)
  • Ahmad Ali Abdullah (The City School, Sargodha)

During the concluding ceremony, guests from academia and industry, including CEO Shafiq Rehman, lauded the students for their innovative contributions. The ceremony was not just a celebration but a beacon of hope for future collaborations.

Dr. Faisal Khan emphasized the lab’s mission to foster curiosity, innovation, and collaboration among young scientists. He stated that the lab provides a unique opportunity for interns to explore the frontier of precision medicine, contributing to areas that will redefine healthcare and research in Pakistan.

The event closed on an inspiring note, with a shared vision for the future of biomedical research. As these young researchers embark on the next chapter of their academic journey, the lessons learned at PML will surely serve as a foundation for groundbreaking discoveries in the years to come.
