This day makes us more excited about the cause of the precision medicine lab and we hope we are able to continuously support Faisal and his team and the project In sha Allah.
Engr. Sohaib TanveerVice President, CECOS university
It's not only the work that you are doing, I am more amazed at the talent and team that you have.
Matiullah KhanSecretory to GoKP, Science and Technology, IT
I think Peshawar as a city and KP as a province is very proud of a facility like this to give our youngsters an opportunity to explore alternative fields other than the conventional one or two fields that they have always been exposed to.
Shafique Ur RehmanCEO, RMI
Being amongst the first people to join PML it was upto us to set the culture for future labbers. We had to define our values and who we are. I learned people skills, how to lead and multitask, how to be a team player and how to collaborate.
Shagufta RehmatEarly-Stage Researcher, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow
This elective program has helped me grow so much not only on the educational/research front on a personal level as well . It really changed my perspective and gave me a new way to look and analyze things. I realised there is a whole wild world out there out of medicine that can be explored.
Zara Khan2nd year MBBS, Khyber Girls Medical College
There was creative and intellectual freedom at PML that enabled you to dive deep into resources regarding your field. I got to work on multiple projects, from metagenomics, gene expression to single cell in the last year of mine at the Lab. Due to the skills gained there, I got opportunities to be part of multiple collaborations here in Germany.
Abdus SalamPhD candidate at Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Germany
Looking back at myself 6 weeks ago, I realized how clueless I was and how much I did not know about a lot of things. I found the best group of friends here, the kind who are supportive and make me want to become the best version of myself. I’ve learnt how to discipline myself. I’ve learnt how to dedicate myself to something. I’ve realized there’s so much I have to learn and there’s so much space for growth.
Safoora 3rd year mbbs, Rehman Medical College
I think this elective programme was the most eye-opening experience of my life. I realised how there is so much left to be explored. It also made me realise some really important things about myself. How a little bit of confidence, discipline, and good mentorship can take you places.
Maryam Fayyaz 3rd year MBBS, Khyber Medical College
We have come here today at RMI to see the exhibition from the Precision Medicine Lab. It has been a fantastic experience, I am thoroughly impressed by the work that is being done by the younger people here and I think there are alot of opportunities for us to learn from all of the people that are here as well as to collaborate with them.
Dr. Safee Ullah ChaudharyAssociate Professor. Department of Life Sciences, LUMS
I believe that government and private sectors should make available resources for funding research like this because this is how the nations progress.
Sher Ali ArbabMember National Assembly, NA30
The skills that I learned in the Lab greatly helped me in my Mphil. PML teaches you the importance of teamwork, how to handle pressure and multitask effectively, these are all the qualities needed to shape a professional.
Atiqa Tariq Mphil, Quaid e Azam University
Kudos to all of you. I hope this pays dividends and I hope in the end patients, especially cancer patients benefit from your research.
Dr. Imran Mohib KhanConsultant ENT, NWGH
I think 3 years is a very short amount of time to put something on the map, you have successfully done that and I hope in the next 5, 7, 10 years this place will hopefully be the most amazing sort of biology lab in the whole country.
Dr. Athar OsamaManaging partner, Inno Ventures Global
Meeting mentors and working under the supervision of labbers and Dr. Faisal was one of the biggest blessings I had this year. It inspired me to not be afraid of making new choices and taking the steps towards my dreams. How there's no such thing as "impossible". What a healthy work environment looks like, how much of a difference science can make to a country.
Hadyqa Qasim2nd year MBBS, Khyber Medical College
It was one of the best experiences of my life. I could see myself growing exponentially in all aspects. The professional development I saw during these 8 weeks was undoubtedly the best. This was kind of a stress and challenge I would love to take again.
Shayan Ahmad3rd year MBBS, Khyber Medical College
I think we all are witnessing history in making because this is a seed that has been sown and the fruits will soon be visible to everybody.
Dr. Shahzada Bakhtyar Zahid Consultant Pediatrician, Dean RMI
The Lab is very well equipped and all the projects are quite interesting. Really inspired from all the genomics!
Aiman KamalLecturer (Chemistry), Pak-Turk Maarif International School and Colleges
It was nothing short of phenomenal and eye opening. It made me realize that you are capable of much more than you give yourself credit for. All you need is a good environment and support. That is what PML excels at providing. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and am grateful for the opportunity.
Abdal Gohar Qureshi2nd year MBBS, Khyber Medical College
If I put it simply, for me, PML was an eye-opening experience. I was so focused on clinical research, that the possibility of handling big data and delving deep into a multi-disciplinary approach in solving scientific questions could never have crossed my mind had it not been for PML. Like Dr. Faisal once said in a meet-the-PI-session, ‘It’s cool, like a mini-PhD, squeezed into 8 weeks’.
Binyameen Raza Qureshi4th year MBBS, Khyber Medical College
The overall experience was fun, out-of-the-box and out of the comfort zone, and it was really inspiring to see so many people working with passion.
Talha Mufeed5th year MBBS, Saidu Medical College
PML made me think through an interdisciplinary lens, as there were lectures on multiple topics and sprints on coding languages even.

I consider this Summer Electives Program as one of the best training experiences of mine, and I really loved some of the additions to the program such as meeting the experts and journal club sessions. I can't express how glad I'm carrying all the memories, skills, and knowledge from this program. I fulfilled my commitments and achieved my goal. So thank you for believing in us, and providing us this wonderful opportunity!
Muhibullah GhafoorzaiFinal year MBBS, Bacha Khan Medical College
I learned how to perform quality research at the Lab, as it was my first time formulating a questionnaire and learning about multiple databases. All this greatly aided me in my residency later on.
Dr. Umair WaliResident (Orthodontist), Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine
I've come to understand that research questions are rooted in clinical problems, forming the bedrock of true research. I am convinced that I shouldn't confine myself to the norms dictated by stereotypical medical education. I'm highly thankful to Dr. Faisal and all my mentors for guiding me throughout this journey and for opening the windows of my mind that were previously unexplored.
Fatima Rizwan3rd year MBBS, Khyber Girls Medical College
I learned how to think outside of the box. Dr. Faisal taught me how to ask the most important questions and back up my research. Academic integrity was learned at PML.
